Bob's Award

Taggart/Ballard Award of Excellence


This award is given to an individual who is serving or has served as an administrator or faculty member in one or more of the USU Regional Campuses and Distance Education programs in recognition of outstanding service and whose efforts have positively impacted Regional Campuses and Distance Education.


Dr. Robert Wagner

Associate Vice Provost & Executive Director USU Regional Campuses & Distance Education, Logan.


Dr. Robert Wagner has led the Distance Education unit for Regional Campuses and Distance Education for two years. During that time, he has provided outstanding leadership in developing web-based courses and developing programs for delivery via Interactive Broadcast. Robert helped develop the BS in Accounting, the MS in Human Resources, and BS degrees in History and English. He is a dynamic representative for USU/RCDE in its interactions with the Utah Education Network, Concurrent Education Task Force, and USU departments and Colleges. Robert is known for organizational abilities, attention to detail, and a “can do” attitude.


Dr. Wagner started with RCDE as assistant vice provost in 2007 and has continued to move up within the RCDE system. He has recently been appointed to associate vice provost and executive director of distance education. Prior to coming to Logan, he earned his Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Albany. While attending, he also served as special assistant to President Kermit Hall, aiding in higher education and economic development and legislative agendas. Robert earned his Bachelor’s degree from BYU and has an MPA from the University of Utah. His published works include one co-authored with former USU President Hall. Dr. Wagner and his wife Tracy have five beautiful children.
